Mahogany and Merlot
Booths including the Firefighters Association are set up in Don Morse Park for this autumn event, which features classic mahogany boats and wine from local vintners.
This is the signature fundraising event of the Firefighters Association. Everybody gets dressed up for a fine dinner, live music and dancing at a popular local venue.
Kids and their families get dressed up in wild, outlandish and sometimes ghoulish costumes and head for the fire station where they’re greeted with glowsticks, candy, a remote-controlled fire engine, and Sparky the Firedog.
Veterans Day Parade
On September 11th, there is a Veterans Day Parade in Chelan, honoring those men and women who have served in the armed forces. Following the parade, there is a luncheon for veterans in the bays of the fire station.
Christmas Tree-Lighting Ceremony
Representatives from the Firefighters Association attend this event at the Washington State Capitol, where there is a youth choir and a tree-lighting ceremony under the rotunda. The event is sponsored by the Association of Washington Business. Donations are made to eligible fire district associations who are honored for service to their communities. They are presented with a check and a sack of toys to take back to their districts for needy children.
In early December, the Firefighters Association donates Walmart gift cards to local youth, and they are accompanied by first responders as they shop for Christmas presents.
Annual Christmas Party
Each year, Chelan Fire and Rescue joins with the Firefighters Association for holiday camaraderie and to celebrate and give thanks for another year of helping to make the Chelan Valley a safer place to live.
In January, the Chelan Chamber of Commerce and Historical Downtown Chelan Society organize a street event with ice sculptures, kids snowslides, outdoor games, and winetasting tents. The Firefighters Association hosts a s’mores booth.
